October is usually the time of year that Scorpius Dance Theatre presents its fan-favorite production of A Vampire Tale. Dubbed “The Nutcracker of Halloween,” the annual haunt celebrated its 16th season in 2019. That performance included exciting new changes, with longtime Scorpius members stepping into the lead roles as King and Queen of the vampires. It was the first time in the show’s history that there had been an entirely new duo performing the lead roles.
The 2019 King, Haydehn Tuipulotu, and Queen, Kalli Sparish, have both been members of Scorpius for nearly a decade, and the production was set to return to the stage this year — until a pandemic hit and the 2020 production had to be canceled.
Some good news is that fans of the show can still enjoy the thrill of this Halloween production from the comfort of home — while also helping support Scorpius’ return to the stage for the 2021 season. The 2019 live performance of A Vampire Tale is available to rent, now through Oct. 31.
In a social media post, founder and artistic director Lisa Starry shared, “We are sad to not be on stage this year for our annual Halloween production, but we will be back! Until then, Happy Halloween and please be safe and well!”
