A favorite annual outdoor activity for many, this year’s Ballet Under the Stars will be presented a bit differently. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the community and Ballet Arizona staff, the performance will be presented virtually as a digital streaming event, Jan. 23.
The Ballet Under the Virtual Stars performance will be presented to the community for free by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation. While the pandemic has changed the venue for this decades-long Valley tradition, what hasn’t changed is the exciting dancing that Ballet Under the Stars attendees know and love.
The dance company says that, thanks in part to a special collaboration with the City of Goodyear and Estrella by Newland, Ballet Under the Virtual Stars features incredible classical and contemporary ballet, as well as dancer interviews and other bonus content. Filmed in Ballet Arizona’s in-house theatre, viewers will get a front-row seat for all of the dance action.
While residents can watch the performance anytime in the 24-hour viewing window (Saturday, Jan. 23, beginning at 5pm MST, through Sunday, Jan. 24 at 5pm MST), be sure to tune into the Ballet Arizona YouTube page Jan. 23 at 6pm MST for a live chat with some of the dancers who performed in the production.
