Banner of Hope 2009 Fashion Show
Every year, October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year marked the 12th that Banner of Hope held its annual fashion show to support its efforts in the Valley. Banner of Hope is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to educating women and their loved ones about breast health and options of treatment when facing breast cancer. The proceeds from its annual fashion show are used to establish and maintain breast health education centers throughout the Valley.
Each year on the runway, breast cancer survivor models have inspired guests and celebrated life alongside professional and celebrity models. Returning to the runway this year is 13-year survivor, Toni Blume. Blume says that her cancer scare changed her life and that she is grateful for every new healthy day she enjoys. She and her husband of 38 years, Martin, have two children, daughter, Rebecca and son, Jonas, as well as an 18-month-old granddaughter, Lia, joined her on the runway.
Blume was also be joined by breast cancer survivor models Barbara “Bibs” Brown, Joan Dymand, Echo Farrell and Netis Negron. Celebrity models include Jason Barry of Channel 5, Rich Dahlquist from Channel 15 and Javier Soto from Channel 3.
The 12th Annual Fashion Show was hosted by Dillard’s at the Scottsdale Fashion Square.
