Labor Day Means Time For Lunch

Labor Day marks the debut of Slow Food’s Time for Lunch Campaign. This is an organized “eat-in” event and Slow Food Phoenix is hosting one of hundreds of eat-ins across the U.S. to promote awareness of the Child Nutrition Act.
This fall, the Child Nutrition Act, which is the bill that governs the National School Lunch Program, is up for reauthorization in Congress. Slow Food’s goal is the passing of a Child Nutrition Act that works for children – one that provides real, healthy food for children in schools.
The eat-in will be held on September 7 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. It is a free event and families are encouraged bring a picnic lunch to enjoy. Families can see a school garden demonstration, take kids to cooking class with a famous local chef and take part in supporting a change in how we feed our children.
To learn more about the campaign, visit slowfoodusa.org and click on the Time for Lunch logo. For more information about the eat-in, visit slowfoodphoenix.org.
